What To Expect

This trip allows students to observe and understand the local and global stressors to marine life, the steps that can be taken to help mitigate them, and how they as individuals can help. This trip is designed to inspire the next generation to take action for the protection of our marine ecosystems, to achieve healthy and productive oceans for future generations.

Students will learn scuba diving skills, which will allow them to dive as tourists with family and friends in the future, and could be an important first step toward a career in marine conservation. By working alongside local NGOs and communities striving to protect natural resources in the Philippines, this trip fosters understanding of the importance of ocean habitats such as coral reefs, and the potential impacts we face as their health becomes more threatened worldwide.

This trip is offered at three different experience levels:

  1. Open Water – Certification for diving to 18m with a qualified buddy (four days of diving)
  2. Scuba Diver – Certification for diving to 12m with supervision from a professional diver (two days of diving)
  3. Discover Scuba – One-off diving with strict supervision on the dive (one dive day).
