What To Expect

Set in a quaint village in the heart of Bali, this trip supports a local learning center that serves children with disabilities and under-privileged communities: Yayasan Widya Guna (YWG). Participants have the rare opportunity for one-on-one encounters with the beneficiaries of YWG, ensuring meaningful personal interactions. 

Expect to cultivate sustainable gardens, assist in educational and physical therapy service, as well as conduct coral reef restoration. Each day is packed with experiential learning opportunities that nurture global awareness, empathy, compassion and leadership, making this program an opportunity for transformative engagement in Indonesia.

Day 1
Arrival in Bali
Fly in to Denpasar and visit the YWG community centre for a Balinese lunch and orientation, and a village welcome ceremony at our homestays.
Day 2
Adventure Day
Hike up an active volcano and visit a coffee farm.
Day 3
Service Work
Service at the YWG community centre maintaining the biogas cooker, children’s play and educational activities, physical therapy for persons with disabilities, and planting and gardening work; shop in the Ubud marketService at the YWG community centre maintaining the biogas cooker, children’s play and educational activities, physical therapy for persons with disabilities, and planting and gardening work; shop in the Ubud market.
Day 4
Service Work
Continue service work at YWG, and visit a water temple.
Day 5
Coral Conservation
Spend the day at Padang Bai beach for coral conservation work, including coral transplanting, beach clean up, and reef surveys.
Day 6
Adventure Day
From Sanur Point, board a ferry to the Nusa Islands for a day of snorkeling and a beach BBQ.
Day 7
Departure Day
Head to Kuta Beach, explore the art market before departure from the airport.

Addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals

SDG #1. No Poverty: Reduce financial pressure on families by providing education, training and creating income and employment opportunities for the physically or mentally disabled, orphaned and less fortunate.
SDG #3: Good Health and Wellbeing: Develop the organic vegetable garden and nursery to provide fresh ingredients for healthy meals at the centre. Physical therapy in a well provisioned, stimulating environment is an essential service for many with physical or mental disabilities.
SDG #4. Quality Education: Free Education, training and support for those who may otherwise miss out. The establishment of a vocational/tertiary training facility.
