Job description
As an intern at World Volunteer, you will get the opportunity to work together with one of our partner organisations in Laos or India. Depending on your area of studies, existing skill set and interest, there are internship positions within the below mentioned areas:
• Electrical engineering
• Business development
• PR and multimedia
• Business management
• Finance development
• CSR and sustainability
• Accounting
Tasks can range from report writing and market research to developing more efficient systems within new and already existing projects and analysing the same.
Partner organisations
The organisations that World Volunteer cooperates with in Asia all work with sustainable development within a variety of different sectors such as forestry, energy, education and health, child care and eco-tourism. Your placement will depend on the demand of our partners at the specified time.
Tiger Trail Adventures is an eco-tourism company based in Luang Prabang, Laos. They provide adventurous travel options where sustainability and environmental-friendly are lead words. Tiger Trail is also World Volunteer’s partner in the building projects that we carry out each year to contribute to the development in Laos.

Burapha has changed the forestry sector in Laos from mere exploitation to refined plantations that grow high value speciality woods for export. Much of the Burapha plantations are established in cooperation with local farmers to create income opportunities, a scheme that has been so successful that the Asian Development Bank used it in their support to farmers. In accordance with their environmental way of thinking, Burapha only deals with plantation woods.

Sunlabob is an energy-provider based in Vientiane, Laos, who works with renewable energy sources in remote villages where the public electricity grid does not reach. Sunlabob also provides training for local entrepreneurs in order for them to work as a franchise.

Lao Institute for Renewable Energy is based in Vientiane, Laos, and was founded in 2006 by Lao companies, organisations and agencies that wanted to create a common platform for renewable energy providers.

OXFAM Australia is a large international organisation with one of their offices in Vientiane, Laos. They work with livelihood improvements such as building clean water systems, as well as the improvement of educational services.

World Volunteer’s partner organisation in India, OUTREACH, works in communities in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to empower the rural poor, stabilising their livelihood and enabling them to become self-reliant communities. In the ONSITE project, OUTREACH particularly aims to assist children of construction workers who live an unsettled life on construction sites in Bangalore, without the possibility of education or the catering for nutritional and health needs.

Requirements
• Have understanding for the working environment in Asia
• You must have intercultural communication skills
• Work well with diverse team
• Bachelor, equivalent education or relevant experience in the field
of interest
• Fluent in English
• Creative and open to live in complete new and foreign environment
• Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and a sense of urgency
• Ability to meet deadlines and work long hours when needed
Working hours
10-20 weeks (depending on your flexibility and the demand of our partners)
6-8hrs / day, 5 days / week

Including: Flights, placement, possible field trips, accommodation, introduction & training, activities, 24/7 support and access to bicycle, gym and pool.
