Volunteer as an English teacher at Quest College
Quest College is a small school located 15 minutes outside the city center in Laos’ capital city, Vientiane. The school offers language and IT courses for teenagers and young adults. The school has very helpful teachers that will make sure you as a volunteer will feel welcome at the school. Quest College partly relies on grants and donations in order to sustain many of their social initiatives including providing English and vocational training for disabled and underprivileged groups in Vientiane.
High school level English is required in order to volunteer at Quest College. The education level of the local students is low compared to western countries. Your level of creativity and interpersonal communication is often more important due to the cultural barriers existing in the classroom. Having fun with the students is a key component in order to be a successful teacher in Laos.
Volunteering with Quest College also gives you the opportunity to participate in Lao Institute For Poverty Allocation (LIFPA) activities. During Saturdays, teachers and administrative staff from Quest College make trips to smaller villages located outside Vientiane providing fun and educational lessons for the village children. Cultural activities, music and sport events are often initiated by students and teachers where you can participate and make new friends.
