Business has a responsibility to give back to the community so World Volunteer has launched Leadership for Life, a program that allows corporations to get involved and participate in initiatives that benefit society. Businesses nowadays understand that they need to go beyond the interests of their companies to the communities they serve. Corporate social responsibility is becoming more mainstream as forward-thinking companies embed sustainability into the core of their business operations to create shared value for business and society. Undertaking socially responsible initiatives is truly a win-win situation. Not only will your company appeal to socially conscious consumers and employees, but you'll also make a real difference in the world.
Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success
Along with the World Volunteer team, you will be building a sustainable clay eco-bungalow. Building these structures over the course of six days with your office colleagues aims to enhance communication and lateral thinking with a strong emphasis on team building. Getting to know your co-workers in a different context and under different circumstances will make for better relationships once you get home ….because really, what could be more life affirming than walking in mud with your colleagues and watching an actual house take shape before your very eyes?
Because everything is connected to everything else
Designed for working adults, you’ll meet and work alongside people who are trying to improve their own lives and build a better future. Your team will play an active role in this process and we guarantee that the skills you impart will provide the village with a facility that will generate cash income as well as labour opportunities for years to come. The knowledge and experience you take back home will boost morale and build relationships in the workplace long after you have arrived home.
Your sample itinerary
The trip runs over a six day period. The actual build takes place over four days and emphasis is placed on cooperation, team work and strategy. Along with fully trained World Volunteer guides, clay bricks are sourced, used and transformed into clay eco-bungalows. We know that good things happen in a relaxed environment so we have included a three hour hike and an excursion to the waterfall for a relaxing swim. Evenings include bonfires, playing games and chatting with locals. As a gesture of gratitude, the village chief performs a traditional Basi ceremony which makes for a unique experience and provides a deep insight into Laos as a country and the villager’s culture and lifestyle.
So, go into the world and do well but more importantly, go into the world and do good.
